Honorable, Amos Makala, Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner urges Citizens to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner Hon. Amos Makala said this today while he was addressing the Dar es Salaam Regional Defense and Security Committee and the Regional and District Secretariat at the strategic planning session to mobilize the people of the Dar es Salaam Region to get COVID-19 Vaccine

The meeting was held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Center (JNICC) in Dar es Salaam. RC. Makala said the citizens in various groups, wherever they are, should be sensitized and educated on the importance of the COVID-19 Vaccine so that they have a broader understanding and can be vaccinated voluntarily.

Health should be you are first priority; you need to be vaccinated to ensure a healthy leaving. COVID-19 vaccines are safe and have been proved by scientists”

The Executive Director of Management and Development for Health Dr. David Sando said that through the Afya Kwanza project funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)  has successfully vaccinated 514,920 people and have reached and vaccinated 67,000 people living with HIV (PLHIV) in 89 health centres, handing over 350 vaccine carriers to 89 health centres., have successfully recruited 110 temporary health workers to speed up vaccination and also recruited 32 statistical officers.

“I would like to thank our donors PEPFAR and CDC, the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania through the Ministry of Health and PORALG, The Dar es Salaam Regional Health team for their outstanding performance in preventing, identifying and provisions of COVID-19 vaccine. for residents of Dar es Salaam. We truly appreciate their contributions and cooperation in improving the health of Tanzanians. I believe that we will continue with this partnership to make Tanzania and Dar es Salaam safer by reaching out to more people to get vaccinated”. Dr. Sando stated this when he was concluding his speech.

During the meeting, the Dar es Salaam  Chief Medical, Dr. Rashid Mfaume said the status of vaccination in the Dar es Salaam Region is satisfactory and not too bad.

The meeting was attended by religious leaders from various denominations, members of the Defense and Security Committee, Health Professionals from MDH, District, and the Regional Secretariat
